Cornelius Pickleball Programs

Lake Norman Pickleball Association is excited to partner with Cornelius Parks and Recreation to provide educational clinics. We will be offering clinics in multi-week series that will build on different skills each week. We will also be offering one-day clinics targeted to one specific skill. Clinics will be based on skill level. Signing up for the correct skill level helps both you and the instructional group get the most from the lesson. Please see the current clinic offerings below.

LKNPA does not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation. We offer a scholarship program for those that meet qualifying criteria. If you feel you may qualify, email Dave Mancuso (dave.lknpickleball@gmail.com) for more information.

LKNPA members need to login prior to registering to receive member discount. If you are not a member, but would like to join to receive clinic discounts and other benefits, please click the Join tab above for more information.

The LKNPA is happy to bring this exciting league format to Torrance Chapel Park the end of this month!!

The format will be MLP (Major League Pickleball) style which brings 2 men and 2 women per team together for matches against other teams.

This will be specific to players whose skill level is UNDER 3.5.  Each week your team will play against another team in four games – women’s doubles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles.  This is being brought to our members free!  We gave this a trial run this summer with players rated 3.75 or higher and it was well received.

The league will begin on Thursday August 28 with players expected to arrive at 5:30pm and begin playing at 6pm.

You will play two teams each week so you will likely finish by 7:30pm.  The last day of this league will be on Thursday October 2.

If you are interested in being a Captain, please send me the following information.

IF ALL OF THE INFORMATION IS NOT RECEIVED in one complete email, your team may be waitlisted as we anticipate an overwhelming response.

We are only going to accept 6 teams for this session

Please be sure your email is complete with all details.  Again, if you do not send complete information, your team will be waitlisted.

Take a break from your busy day and join us for a mid-day clinic that is sure to elevate your game. These noon clinics will be limited to a small group of 4 - 8 players for an hour of focused skill-building.

This clinic will focus on what most people consider the most important shot in pickleball and that is the 3rd shot.  Executed by the serving team, this shot really sets the tone for how a point will be played out.  This clinic will focus on whether you should drive or drop your third shot and how to execute each shot.

There's a time to drive and a time to drop.  Register for this clinic to learn and perfect this important shot.

This clinic will focus on the first two shots of every point.  While sometimes taken for granted, consistent and well-placed serves and returns can provide you with a competitive advantage.  Attendees will learn why well-placed serves and return of serves will set them up for success.  Your instructor will cover different types of serves and returns and the best spot on the court to place these important shots.

    ** Age 14+ **

Please join the Lake Norman Pickleball Association (LKNPA) as we welcome those interested in learning about the fastest growing sport in the country that has a weird name but is loads of fun… PICKLEBALL! For only $15, you can see why everyone is talking and enjoying this sport that is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. People aged 4-100 are taking over courts throughout the nation, meeting new people and getting some exercise while doing so!

The LKNPA is proud to host a beginners only (14+ years old), “Introduction to PICKLEBALL”, starting at 5pm at the TORRENCE CHAPEL PARK COURTS. The first hour being spent learning all about the sport, paddle, court, ball and why everyone is loving and talking about pickleball! Time will be spent introducing the basic shots, rules and game play. Then at 6pm, the fun continues when the courts open up to other beginners that already know the basic rules of the game.

Please try and bring your own paddle. Dick’s Sporting Goods in Birkdale Village and Academy Sports in Mooresville have a healthy selection of paddles and there is always Amazon. You might already be wondering… “which paddle is for you?” Do not stress over that until you get a good grasp of the game and then you will understand what you want in a paddle.

If the courts are too wet at 4pm the day of the clinic, I will send an email out and the clinic will be postponed to the next week. Hope it doesn’t rain.
